Surajpur,/ ‘Noni Suraksha Yojana’ has been started by the Chhattisgarh government to prevent female foeticide and lay a strong foundation for the bright future of girls born in underprivileged families. Under this scheme, the girl child born after April 1, 2014, will be given a bond of Rs 1 lakh by the state government. Under this scheme, an assistance of Rs 1 lakh each is given to two girls of an eligible family on completion of 18 years of age and clearing class 12th examination. So far 4193 eligible girls have been identified in the district and their details have been entered online. Out of these, 1032 girls have been given bonds issued by LIC.
Since the inception of this scheme, cases of child marriage and female foeticide have decreased in the district. Eligibility Criteria: The benefit of the scheme can only be availed if the parents or guardians are permanent residents of Chhattisgarh. Under this scheme, only the girl child born after April 1, 2014, will be given the benefit. Applicants of the BPL category who are living below the poverty line will get the benefit of this scheme. Two girls of a family are eligible to get the benefits of this scheme.
