Jagdalpur – The Godhan Nyaya Yojana in Chhattisgarh is the catalyst for the state’s latest economic and social revolution. This program has quickly established its importance and significance and has captured the attention of the entire nation. Chhattisgarh government introduced the ‘Godhan Nyay Yojana’ on July 20, 2020, giving cowherds in both rural and urban areas a source of income. In the Bastar district, around 1 lakh 92, thousand quintals of cow dung have been obtained thus far. Vendors of cow dung have been paid a total of Rs. 02 crores 57 lakh 38 thousand.
In Gauthans of Bastar, women’s self-help organizations are producing vermicompost from cow dung obtained under the Godhan Nyay Yojana. following the same, the Maa Saraswati Self-Help Group was established in Gauthan, Karmari, in the Bastar district in 2020. Their 15-person group, since its inception, has produced 449.20 quintals of vermicompost from 1438.78 quintals of cow dung, and as a result, has generated a profit of Rs. 1 lakh 45 thousand 990 from sales. Early in 2021, the group would collect cashews on an area of 02 acres. They received a profit of 36, thousand rupees as a result. The organization has built a pond for fish farming in the future, and plans are being made to collect crops by sowing vegetables through drip production, which will boost the group’s income.
New sources of revenue and employment have emerged. The Godhan Nyay Yojana gives the women involved in the group greater financial autonomy. New job and development opportunities are also emerging in rural areas.
