On the occasion of International Olympic Day, the Chhattisgarh Olympic Association organized a tree plantation drive and athlete felicitation ceremony at Palod village, Nava Raipur. Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai inaugurated the campaign by planting a Rudraksha sapling.
As a symbolic gesture supporting India’s bid to host the 2036 Olympic Games, a total of 2,036 saplings were planted during the event. Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said that the initiative is not just about planting trees but also about building a greener, healthier, and stronger India for future generations.
He emphasized that the state government is continuously working to encourage sporting talent and develop modern sports infrastructure across Chhattisgarh. Highlighting the success of the Khelo India National Tribal Games and the Bastar Olympics, he noted that these events have provided a significant platform for young athletes to showcase their abilities.
During the ceremony, outstanding athletes, coaches, rugby players, and sportspersons from the Forest Department were honored for their achievements and contributions to sports.
The event was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao, Forest Minister Kedar Kashyap, Skill Development Minister Guru Khushwant Sahib, along with public representatives, athletes, and sports enthusiasts.
